Antioxidant Smoothie Bowl

Summertime is in full swing and so are fun summer activities! How do you plan on staying healthy this summer?

Getting sick can ruin your summer plans so follow these tips from our registered dietitian to enjoy your summer to the fullest:

There are plenty of ways to help strengthen your immune system such as sleeping enough, exercising, reducing your stress levels and eating the right foods. A diet rich in fruits and vegetables is highly recommended, but what are some of the best fruits and veggies to pick?

The foods with high amounts of antioxidants should be consumed regularly. Antioxidants help fight off disease and inflammation, so not only will they help protect you against a cold but they can also help protect you against chronic illnesses like diabetes.

Here is a list of foods that have some of the highest levels of antioxidants: Berries (all kinds), spinach, kale, citrus fruits, beets, beans (all kinds), broccoli, mango, cherries, potatoes (yes, really!), artichokes, cabbage, asparagus.

Enjoy a cold and creamy smoothie bowl a few times a week to get as many antioxidants as possible into your diet.
